The general store is located in old Moneta, Virginia. Not in New Hampshire like everyone thinks. This small town is located near the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smith Mountain Lake.
The store is now home to "Raggedy Reverse Applique" quilt pattern designer Kim Deneault. She uses it as her studio and during July & August 2006 it will be open on Saturdays 10-5.
Stop by and see an antique collection of Friendship Quilts, buy some one of a kind antiques, view all seventeen of her patterns or just enjoy a great piece of history.
The building still has it's original tin ceilings, worn wood floors, and lots of local history.
Even after 10+ years people still make the journey to the old general store in Virginia. Step our of their cars and yell....."Drrrr. Leeeooooo Maaarrrvvvin"! There's something said about simple pleasures and the impact a true funny movie has on a person.
